In the latest episode of Karan Johar's celebrity chat show "Koffee with Karan," veteran actor Sharmila Tagore disclosed that she battled cancer during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic. The revelation came as Johar expressed regret for not being able to cast Tagore in a role originally played by Shabana Azmi in the movie "Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani." Johar revealed that Tagore was his first choice for the role, but health concerns during the pandemic prevented her from accepting the offer.

The 79-year-old actor, known for her iconic roles in films like "Aradhana" and "Amar Prem," did not provide specific details about her battle with cancer but emphasized the cautious approach due to being unvaccinated at the time.

Tagore expressed regret about not being able to work with Johar on the mentioned project and hopes for future collaborations. During the show, she stated, "It will be a regret, and it is something I hope that we can make up for and work together."

Despite the setback, Sharmila Tagore made a successful return to acting earlier this year with the family drama "Gulmohar," co-starring Manoj Bajpayee. The film, directed by Rahul V Chittella, was released on the streaming service Disney Hotstar. Tagore's openness about her health journey adds a personal touch to her iconic career, resonating with fans and fellow artists alike.
